FAQs
Do you coach in other strength sports?
I accept general fitness, power building, and powerlifting clients. I do not coach clients in strongman/strongwoman, bodybuilding, CrossFit, etc., since I do not compete on those platforms.
Am I strong enough to compete?
Any one can compete. The sport of powerlifting welcomes all lifters, regardless of experience and age. You won’t know how strong you are until you try!
How many days a week would my training be?
The amount of days per week a client trains will be dependent on their individual needs and goals. Typically, training can be between 3-5 days per week.
How do I get stronger?
Consistency in the gym is key! Individualized programming that focuses on proper form and technique for the squat, bench, and deadlift will enable the lifter to move more weight as training continues. Accessories and mobility movements help focus on strengthening weaknesses and will support the improvement of the squat, bench, and deadlift.
How do I overcome my fear of squatting, benching, and/or deadlifting?
Proper coaching and guidance in form and technique with each lift, starting with a lower, manageable weight will allow the lifter the build confidence in each lift. Having a spotter can also help give the lifter confidence in their safety while performing a lift.
Do you provide coaching on meet day?
If you are competing within a 3-hour drive from my home location, I will make every effort to be there. This does not add any costs to your monthly coaching cost. If you are competing further than that, we can discuss travel expenses. If the meet is one that I am the director of, I cannot provide coaching since that would be a conflict of interest and show potential bias towards the rest of the lifters.
How do I stay consistent and committed?
Working with me can help a lifter stay accountable with sticking with their programming each week. Weekly check-ins can ensure that I am aware of any issues or concerns a lifter may have, what is or is not working with prescribed weight and/or lifts, and how a lifter is feeling in general. External factors can also affect training so keeping communication open and easy with me can allow me to take any of that into consideration when programming future training weeks/months.
